Resumen

TAIS DE ALMEIDA GONCALVES, Dayane et al. Vaccine conservation: The view of nursing teams. av.enferm. [online]. 2021, vol.39, n.2, pp.178-187.  Epub 18-Ago-2021. ISSN 0121-4500.  https://doi.org/10.15446/av.enferm.v39n2.86299.

Objective:

To understand the meaning of vaccine conservation and vaccination room care for the nursing staff of primary health care units.

Materials and methods:

Qualitative study, under the perspective of Alfred Schütz's social phenomenology, conducted in March 2018 through an open interview with nursing professionals working at a vaccination room.

Results:

Based on the analysis of the interviews, results were organized in three categories: Maintaining vaccine conservation is taking care of quality and safety, Acting in the present and thinking about the future, and Ideal vaccination room. The professionals understand the importance of vaccine conservation based on quality and safety standards, and thus demand improvements in the structure of vaccination rooms.

Conclusions:

Nursing teams perceive the need to maintain the cold chain of conservation of immunobiologicals in all instances, with expectations and desires towards the acquisition of equipment, improvements in the physical structure of vaccination rooms, and, therefore, offering a more empathic care in order to prevent diseases.
