This study aims to associate vulnerabilities and health care actions with the workload and length of service of public school teachers in basic education in the state of Piauí. This is a documentary study. Analysis of the documents in the database of the School Management and Inspection Unit (UGIE) of the State Department of Education (SEDUC) was carried out. The 5141 registration documents of the 21 Regional Education Departments / GRE in the state of Piauí were analyzed. The data were analyzed using the statistical package, using descriptive analysis and the chi-square test, which were organized in tables. The results show that the use of alcohol and tobacco prevails in teachers with a higher workload and longer service time. Teachers with the most health insurance are also those with the highest weekly hours and the longest period of service. However, there is little incidence of teachers who use health services, the specialty most sought after is endocrinology and the least sought after is psychiatry. It is hoped that the results may assist expanded health promotion, politicization for self-care in health, training of care groups. Promotion of practices in conjunction with intersectoral public policies, reflections on the need for greater links between education and health, between the school, the community and health and care devices, independent and in addition to specific policies for this purpose.
