CHAMIE, José Félix. Principles, rights and duties in Colombian consumers law. Rev. Derecho Privado [online]. 2013, n.24, pp.115-132. ISSN 0123-4366.

The globalization of the economy and communications builds the new categories of "consumers" and "consumer relationship". The category of "consumer" is depersonalized and revealing in its structure the asymmetric position of one of the subjects of the consumer relationship. As a weak party of consumer relationship, the consumer is given special protection in order to "humanize" the discipline and to mitigate the effects of asymmetry in the position of the parties determined by market conditions and the massive hiring. Thus, it is a job for the doctrine, to build the dogmatic foundations of the general principles of the resent legal discipline upgraded our consumer protection law and placed it in a decidedly stage of guarantees for consumers.
