Resumen

ROJAS GALVAN, José. A Glimpse into the Everyday Life of Jesuit Missions in Gran Nayar (Viceroy of New Spain) 1722 -1752. Historelo.rev.hist.reg.local [online]. 2019, vol.11, n.22, pp.235-266.  Epub 26-Jul-2019. ISSN 2145-132X.  https://doi.org/10.15446/historelo.v11n22.73058.

At the beginning of the 1720s, the government of New Spain set the processes in motion to solidify the conquest and evangalization of the territory known as Gran Nayar. This would allow them to exploit the area's mines, trade impetus, agriculture and ranching, all activities that were central to the functioning of the viceregal economy. The goal of this paper is to analyze how the processes of conquest and evangelization sparked a series of changes in the everyday life of social groups coexisting in the area from 1722-1752. The theoretical referent is based on the perspective of cultural history as it allows us to reconstruct the expressions of these social groups from the past. The method used is historical synthesis, which provides the elements to reconstruct past events based on available and reliable sources, including artifacts and historical accounts. All this allows us to conclude that a series of social, cultural and political factors emerged in the Gran Nayar which contributed to changes in daily life. These changes prevented conquest and evangelization efforts from fully solidifying, even to the degree there was a possibility that the Crown would lose everything.

Palabras clave : everyday life; missions; conquest; Gran Nayar.
