Resumen

GARCIA-ALCARAZ, Guadalupe  y  OROPEZA-SANDOVAL, Luciano. Circulation and Production of Knowledge from a Local Level: José Vicente Negrete and Objective Teaching, 1890-1940. Historelo.rev.hist.reg.local [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.30, pp.114-143.  Epub 05-Mayo-2022. ISSN 2145-132X.  https://doi.org/10.15446/historelo.v14n30.93877.

The aim of this article is to analyze the dynamics of production and circulation of knowledge based on a cultural history approach. Therefore, we strategically positioned the local and regional educational processes to assess them in the perspective of international and national events. We used the social biography to make the analysis, because our objective is to understand the connection between the subject as an individual and the social structures, so we could elucidate how people organize their cultural productions considering their context and places that restrain their practices and interpretations. To get closer to this complex problem, we decided to scrutinize the career trajectory of Professor José Vicente Negrete and his written production as member of the educational press. We chose this person due to his regional importance and because his life has been circumscribed by a period of crisis and historical changes. Mexico went from an authoritarian regime to an armed conflict and a national reconstruction era. During that time, the education was seen as a platform for social transformations by the government, for this purpose, these platforms were given scientific bases, which held a relationship with objective education. Besides, the secularization was modifying the social and political environment, at the same time, the educational system became standardized and centralized. Those processes had different shades and issues according to the regional context and how they were read, reinterpreted, and adapted by the professors.

Palabras clave : objective teaching; professors' social biography; educational press; history of regional education.
