This article is a review of current literature exploring the relationship between human resources (HR) practices and environmental sustainability in the organizational context, aimed at identifying the HR practices that affect the environmental sustainability strategy of organizations. The contribution of this paper for academic and practical purposes is to establish the impacts on the environmental sustainability practices and how can these be accomplished through the strategic management of Human Resources. The main findings of this research provide elements for constructing a design and implementation model for organizations that intend to be more efficient in their environmental management and set a course for future researchers who want to address the global needs of preserving and protecting the environment from a HR perspective.
