Resumen
CEBALLOS GOMEZ, Diana Luz. Heterodoxy and inquisition. Hist. Soc. [online]. 2012, n.22, pp.51-72. ISSN 0121-8417.
This article will address the rise of the Inquisition as an independent court of royal justice (11th to 13th centuries), and some cultural conditions -political, religious and social- that explain its birth, as well as the participation of both powers, ecclesiastical and secular, in this process. It intends to show that, contrary to the widespread idea that the Inquisition was a religious and moral control device, political control was also an important aspect since its creation -even until the end of the modern age- and that its rise would not have been possible without the decisive intervention of the royal authorities.
Palabras clave : Heterodoxy; Inquisition; Papacy; Empire (Holy Roman Empire); Church- State conflict.
