BEDOYA PEREZ, Juan Carlos y HOYOS SANCHEZ, Rodrigo Alberto. AGITATION-AERATION RELATION EFFECTS ON CELL CULTURE OF AZADIRACHTA INDICA A. JUSS NEEM ON AZADIRACHTIN PRODUCTION IN A STIRRED TANK BIOREACTOR. Rev. Fac. Nac. Agron. Medellín [online]. 2010, vol.63, n.1, pp.5293-5305. ISSN 0304-2847.
It was evaluated the production of azadiractin from cells of Azadirachta indica A. Juss, established in a biorreactor submitted to variations in the speed of agitation and the air flow provided to the culture medium. Besides, it was determined the effect of the oxygen dissolved in the culture medium, on cellular growth and production of the metabolite, by means of estimating the oxygen transfer coefficient (kLa ), oxygen transfer rate (OTR), oxygen uptake rate (OUR), and the cellular specific oxygen uptake rate (SOUR). The results showed that the cellular growth and azadiractin production, are strongly influenced by the mixed conditions in the biorreactor, indicating a high degree of sensitivity of cells to the hydrodinamic stress. On the other hand, it was evident that kLa and OTR values, increased to promote the agitation speed and air supply, which favoured the mass transfer, whereas it was opposite with the OUR and the SOUR, possibly because of the loss of the cellular feasibility, to put up the cut effects inside the biorreactor.
