In order to find catatóme symptoms we applied Bush Francis Catatonía Rating Scale (BFCRS) to all patients admitted to in the Hospital San Vicente de Paul in patient psychiatric unit, from march 1998 to march 1999. Sample consisted in 132 patients, 11.4% (n=15) met catatonía criteria. Most prevalent diagnostics among catatonic patients were psychotic disorders (53%, n=8) and organic mental disorders (26%, n=4). A significant difference was found with the group of no catatonic patients (p=0.004). The most frequent catatonic symptoms were mutism (73%), catatepsy (67%), negativism (67%), withdrawal (60%), stupor (53%), staring (46%), and mitgehen (33%).
