To a sample of 625 students of the different at random selected academic programs, from Caldas University, to the inventories of anxiety and depression of Beck were applied to them and a semistructured survey. It was a quantitative and cross-sectional investigation, with a descriptive design. The dependent variables were depression, anxiety and suicidal conduct. The independent variables were: age, sex, civil state, faculty, program, academic and socioeconomic level, labor activity, origin, call to account present, losses and satisfaction with the program. An association between these two sets of variables settled down. For the analysis and interpretation the descriptive and inferential statistic was used (chi square, contigencia table 2 xs 2). One was a prevalence of the 49,8% for depression, 58,1% for anxiety and 41% for suicidal ideation. Between the associations for depression and anxiety that were statistically significant they were: Program of Familiar Development, feminine sex, affective, academic, economic losses and of academic health, dissatisfaction with the race, difficulties in the relations with educational companions and, responsabilities and suicidal behavior. The specific associations for depression were: apartment shared with companion and intervals of age (40,44 and 15-19) and for anxiety, academic period (second year), all the groups of age and socioeconomic layer one and two. For suicide were statistically significant the following associations: Program of Philosophy and Letters and Visual Design (categories of interest by high frequency), Physical education and Biology and Chemistry (categories of interest by low frequency), academic period (first year), affective, academic, economic losses and of academic health, satisfaction with the program (category of interest by low frequency), difficulty in the relations with educational companions and, responsabilities and apartment shared with companion.
