In the classical Greek context, Demeter was worshipped as a goddess of agriculture and a protector of fertility. Moreover, the relationship between this deity and her daughter Kore-Persephone represented the strength of the maternal bond. This article explores the symbolic dimensions of this mythological figure, highlighting its connections with an ethical model of motherhood related to care and resistance against injustices. In addition, this article approaches this myth from the perspective of contemporary feminist theory, showing its links with ecofeminism.
