Resumen

HERRERA-MEDINA, Eleonora; MARTI-NOGUERA, Juan José  y  MOLINA-PRIETO, Luis Fernando. Rehabilitation of the container and expulsion of the contents: the Bogota's obsolete urban renewal model. Bitácora Urbano Territorial [online]. 2017, vol.27, n.1, pp.9-15. ISSN 0124-7913.  https://doi.org/10.15446/bitacora.v27n1.39917.

The article reflects on the paradigm of urban renewal inherited from modernity, emphasizing one of its instruments -expropriation-, and in one of its contemporary manifestations -gentrification-, because they generate multiple negative effects in the immaterial plane of the cities, as they are: urban corruption, spatial exclusion and breakdown of the socio-cultural fabric. The theoretical framework of the article arises from the three dimensions of sustainability established in 1987 by the Brundtland Commission: social, economic and environmental; nd under this approach, i'ts study the effects that a project of urban renewal of Bogotá, will have on the population that lives in the area to intervention. It is concluded that, in order for contemporary urban renewal projects to become sustainable, they must be reinvented so as they renew both the material and the intangible elements of the intervened areas.

Palabras clave : Expropriation; gentrification; urban corruption; spatial exclusion.
