Introduction. Exogenous feeding or first feeding in animals that finish their larvae stage development is the most critical moment in the production of seed for pisciculture. Providing water in optimal physicochemical conditions and, above all, to have living food available, especially zooplankton, for the post-larvae of most of the farmed fish, must be the top priorities during this stage of pisciculture. Objective. To evaluate the effect of several options of first feeding on the gain of weight, the length and the survival of Rhamdia sebae larvae in post-larvae controlled growth systems. Materials and methods. In this feeding test Rhamdia sebae c.f. post larvae were used after 72 of their hatch, located at a 50 larvae. L-1 density in 20 litter aquariums under controlled environmental conditions. In the different experimental treatments the animals were fed for the first time, and during five days in a row, with de-capsulated cysts and nauplii of Artemia salina, cladocerans (Daphnia sp) algae (Scenedesmus sp and Ankistrodesmus sp) and, as a control treatment, fast. Results. At the end of the experiment the results showed significant differences (p<0.05) between treatments regarding the weight and length gains, with the best performances being reported with treatments one and two (1.15 ± 0.72 mg - 1.23 ± 0.58 mm and 1.4 ± 0.50 mg - 1.12 ± 0.84 mm, respectively). Conclusion. The best survival percentage, 64, 33%, was achieved with Artemia salina nauplii.
