Resumen

GIRALDO GIRALDO, Carlos Alberto. Clinical Psychiatric: ¿Signs and Symptoms of a Crisis?. rev.colomb.psiquiatr. [online]. 2005, vol.34, n.4, pp.556-571. ISSN 0034-7450.

Objective: This manuscript examines the clinical practice as a source of knowledge and to illustrate how it has been weakened. Methodology: An evaluation was conducted as the instrument to validate and to support today’s clinical practice. This was carried out in two ways. Firstly, a question about the beginning of the clinical psychiatry as a way of acquiring knowledge and as a means of production . Secondly, a close look at the different points of view of several authors. The points of view of authors such as the psychoanalyst Paul Bercherie; the psycopalologist Germán Berríos; and the clinical researcher Herman van Pragg are discussed. Results and conclusion: The goal of protecting psychiatry of theoretical contamination, of setting a unique language and of assimilating the clinical psychiatry and the empirical research, has produced a psychiatry without the subject, has put aside the processes and has forgotten the different dimensions expressed through the symptoms and the conduct. Based on the outcome of the historical analysis and the detailed study of the above mentioned authors, who have very different academic background and approaches, there is a suggestion to declare an epistemological emergency in order to benefit practitioners and their patients.

Palabras clave : Psychiatry; epistemology; emergency.
