This article conceptually problematizes the educational practices inherent in heritage actions and their orientation towards the formation of citizenship. It identifies two dimensions of citizenship, one as an expression of civility and the other as a manifestation of responsible knowledge. Heritage operates in the field of cultural transmission as exemplified in the context of the city. The anthropological dimension of museums is made explicit in connection to educational practices around heritage and citizenship as references of cultural memory and devices for the representation and generation of identity traits.
