GALVIS-OCAMPO, Yuly Tatiana; OVIEDO-RUBIANO, Nicolás Enrique y FRANCO-SEPULVEDA, Giovanni. Underground mining emergencies and fatalities in Colombia. Bol. cienc. tierra [online]. 2021, n.50, pp.77-84. Epub 07-Feb-2022. ISSN 0120-3630. https://doi.org/10.15446/rbct.n50.95733.
During 2019 in Colombia, 1.9% of the mining titles corresponding to large mining companies contributed 91% of the royalties; In contrast to this economic data, 90.4% of the mining titles classified as medium and small mining, contributed 63% of the fatalities (the remaining 37% was contributed by illegal mining). Since 2005, the mining authority has been collecting information on mining emergencies and fatalities, led the update of the safety regulations in underground mining operations, strengthened mining control, among other aspects, and the increasing trend of this phenomenon has not diminished. Therefore, a descriptive analysis of this database (mining emergencies and fatalities) is carried out in R, a software for statistical processing and analysis, in order to identify the variables with the highest incidence. For the end mind to propose three statistical models that allow us to predict the phenomenon under study in a period of time, generating inputs to enrich the discussion around the country's mining safety.
