BLESA ALEDO, Belén. METAPHYSICS OF CONSUMPTION: "THE EGO'S ASPIRATION". Univ. philos. [online]. 2012, vol.29, n.58, pp.137-156. ISSN 0120-5323.
This article constitutes a reflection about the place personal identity and, as a part of it, the body, occupy in a society of consumption as objects of incessant claim. The main aspect to be highlighted stems from the sociological dimension that these issues have acquired and the strategic position they take. We emphasize the use made of ideals and abstractions in shaping behavior and seeking greater social control serving, simultaneously, to the maintenance of the dynamics of consumption. In this context of individualism and losing of traditional reference models, we point to the work philosophy, as searching of wisdom, is called upon to play, emphasizing its place in the personal guidance from reflection, analysis and rational and sensible foundations of our choices and life options, constituting this, in turn, an incentive to build a democratic society.
