ROLDAN RAMIREZ, Elvia Lucía et al. Positive and Negative Effects of the Role of the Elderly in the Consolidation of the Family Social Network. Investig. desarro. [online]. 2020, vol.28, n.2, pp.57-80. Epub 04-Nov-2021. ISSN 0121-3261. https://doi.org/10.14482/indes.28.2.302.231.
The objective of this research was to describe the positive and negative effects of the role of older adults in the consolidation of the family social network of tenth-grade students of a Public Educational Institution in the Special District of San Andrés de Tumaco-Nariño. The study was descriptive, with a qualitative approach. The analysis model was multiple triangulation (Ander-Egg 1995). The sample was non-probabilistic, represented by 15 families. Older adults in the consolidation of the social network in the family have two roles: as beneficiaries of the network, or as its promoters. As positive effects, the satisfaction of needs of the elderly of different types and their contribution in the exchange of support within the network is presented. As negative effects, a high degree of ignorance was identified among participants in the social networks present in the environment.
