This paper discusses the use of a poster session as a teaching strategy in a Nursing Fundamentals class. Motivation for this research was the constant discussion on teaching strategies that arise in the field. The aim of this study was to report the results of application of this innovative teaching technique in a college in south of Minas Gerais State, Brazil, with students from fourth semester of undergraduate nursing school. Results showed a high satisfaction rate by students with the method. They pointed out positive outcomes such as stimulating teamwork, improving group communication, enhancing preparation for presentations at events and providing opportunity to produce papers.
