GARCIA DE PAIVA, Larissa; DE LIMA DALMOLIN, Graziele; ANDOLHE, Rafaela y MOMBAQUE DOS SANTOS, Wendel. Absenteeism of hospital health workers: scoping review. av.enferm. [online]. 2020, vol.38, n.2, pp.234-248. ISSN 0121-4500. https://doi.org/10.15446/av.enferm.v38n2.79437.
Objective:
to identify factors associated with sickness absenteeism-illness among health workers.
Content synthesis:
this literature scope review was conducted in the Medline database, via PubMed, and included 106 studies that involved 388,381 health professionals. It was identified that both individual and interpersonal factors related to the position and function, as well as environmental and organizational factors, influence the occurrence of absenteeism-illness in the hospital environment.
Conclusions:
individual, interpersonal, position, and function factors, as well as environmental and organizational factors, influence absenteeism of health workers, with an impact on both productivity and the continuity of care provided by these professionals. The unplanned absence of these type of workers leads to the need to hire other employees or pay extra hours to meet the demand, which can aggravate the economic and financial situation of the health system.
