SCHNEIDER, JALUZA AIMÈE y ANDRETTA, ILANA. Social Skills of Crack Users in Treatment at Therapeutic Centers: Relationship with Socio-demographic Characteristics and Consumption Model. Rev. colomb. psicol. [online]. 2017, vol.26, n.1, pp.83-98. ISSN 0121-5469. https://doi.org/10.15446/rcp.v26n1.54032.
The use of crack is configured as a health problem. In this context, social interactions are essential for the relocation to society of the user without the use of drugs. The goal of this study was to define deficits in social skills and identify possible relationships with socio-demographic characteristics and consumption model among crack users. 65 men, crack users, participated in treatment in the therapeutic communities of the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre (Brazil). The evaluation tools were a socio-demographic data and consumption model questionnaire and the Del Prette ssi. An association was identified between deficits in social skills and young age, belonging to a low social class, having a drug-user father or brother, concomitant alcohol consumption, having attacked or robbed, having used crack at an early age and daily consumption of the drug. The study concludes that poor social skills are associated with vulnerability factors for the use of crack and highlights the importance of interventions that increase the repertoire of social skills of this population.
