GARZON-POSADA, Andrés Orlando; JIMENEZ RAMIREZ, Manuel Arturo  y  GOMEZ-CAMPOS, Luis Alberto. Business collaboration networks for SMEs: a review of the state of the art. Rev.fac.cienc.econ. [online]. 2022, vol.30, n.1, pp.215-244.  Epub 30-Jun-2022. ISSN 0121-6805.  https://doi.org/10.18359/rfce.5871.

According to data from the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, as of 2019 there has been an increase in the number of companies that have canceled their operations. Despite a slight recovery at the beginning of 2020, the economic and social crisis unleashed by the COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic has been relentless with the local business community and has mainly affected the SME sector. District unemployment rates reached 16.3% at the end of 2020 and the contraction in local GDP approached 6.4%. As an alternative to increase competitiveness and innovation in SMEs, as well as an option for their survival in times of crisis, the collaborative platform strategy has been worked on and implemented in the last two decades around the world. The concept of business collaboration is associated with the economic resilience of human organizations by proposing innovative practices and mobilizing resources in response to existing difficulties and challenges. In this sense, the purpose of this article is to review the state of the art of business collaboration networks, exposing its main characteristics, the phases of its implementation, its formulation, analysis methods and practical applications, with the purpose of exposing the convenience, scope and possible limitations of this strategy as an option for local SMEs to mitigate their growing closure with the economic and social impacts that this implies.

Palabras clave : collaboration networks; SMEs; innovation; crisis.
