ACEVEDO TARAZONA, Álvaro y DELGADO DIAZ, Adrián. LIBERATION THEOLOGY AND PASTORAL OF LIBERATION: BETWEEN SOLIDARITY AND INSURGENCY. Anu.hist.reg.front. [online]. 2012, vol.17, n.1, pp.245-268. ISSN 0122-2066.
This article aims to show the impact of the Pastoral of Liberation in Colombia (today known as Liberation Theology) and how its main promoters, including priests Camilo Torres Restrepo, Diego Uribe, Domingo Lain Sanz, Manuel Martinezand, and Jose Antonio Perez Jimenez ended linked to the National Liberation Army (ELN). The structure of the article consists of an introduction with an emphasis on social and political situation in the world in the 60s. Then, it draws a distinction between the concepts of Liberation Theology and Pastoral of Liberation; explores the process of change of Catholic Church after the Second Vatican Council and the Episcopal Conference gathered in Medellín; studies the phenomenon of Golconda; and finishes with an analysis of the performance of the so-called "rebel priests" in the context of new concepts in vogue on the social and political action of the Church.
