Colombia's geographical location in the international scenario, its projection and leadership towards Central and South America, are discussed in relation to projects like Unasur and Mesoamerica. This is achieved through a categorization of regional powers and Colombia's location -Secondary Regional Power- compared to countries like Brazil and Mexico -Regional Power-. It emphasizes the changes that occurred during the last ten years and particularly examines two aspects related to the current Santos' administration's priorities: Economic Diplomacy and South-South Cooperation, mainly in security.
