Resumen
XAVIER, Libânia N. y CHAVES, Miriam W.. The invention of Public School and its development in Brazil: between the ideal of modernity and the contemporary problems. Hist. Caribe [online]. 2018, vol.13, n.33, pp.255-282. ISSN 0122-8803. https://doi.org/10.15648/hc.33.2018.10.
The paper approaches to the obsession of the paradigm of the school and analyzes its crisis. In addition, it develops an analysis based on the variation and observation of scales (REVEL, 1998), it concentrates the focus on the global process and questions its reverberations on the Brazilian reality. It is also reflects the invention of the Public School as a part of the institutional material that sustains modern societies (DUBET, 2006) and highlights the negotiations that penetrate the formation of the identities of both teachers and students by highlighting its dynamic and unstable character (UBAR, 1998). The paper concludes that in Brazil as in other countries, the school has acted historically, as an instance of negotiation, reinforcing the ideals of modernity that serves as a parameter for its mode of organization and functioning, while its daily practices show the contradictions of the model.
