In the form in which literature tropologizes, plots and creates representations abo>ut life, historical facts or people from the past, that can contribute or be supportive with other discussions as to how history can promote the characterization or understanding of an era. In this regard, Colombian 19th century appears as the most romantic centuries because during this period the nation´s project was founded, and it greatly impacted the intellectuals of the era such as writers, jurists, journalists, and politicians, among others. After doing an investigation, this study analyzes the novel Maria, which dominates colonial structures, such as a nation program. In the same way, in La casa de las dos palmas is discovered the epic "paisa" culture in the development of the country during the 19th century.
