Resumen

LAZCANO-ORTIZ, Margarita  y  SALAZAR-GONZALEZ, Bertha Cecilia. Adaptation in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus Type 2, According to the Roy Model. Aquichan [online]. 2009, vol.9, n.3, pp.236-245. ISSN 1657-5997.

Purpose. To determine the influence between focal and contextual stimuli and the physiological and psychosocial adaptation in people with DMT2. Material and Method. The design was descriptive, cross, predictive. The sampling was probabilistic, systematic. The sample with 200 participants of both genders from 30 to 65 years, was determined for 95% of confidence, with a test power of 90%. Results. The results showed that years of diagnosis explained the physiologic adaptation F (1,198) = 9.18, p = .003. Effect was observed between complications and psychosocial adaptation F (4,195) = 4.97, p = .001, with a coefficient of determination of 74%. The contextual stimuli influenced in the physiological and psychosocial adaptation, F (6,193) = 2.89, p = .010, and F (6, 193) = 2.41, p = .029. Conclusions. The results of this study allowed testing theoretical propositions derived from the Roy Adaptation model particularly between stimuli and the physiological and psychosocial adaptation in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
