Resumen

CEPEDA SANCHEZ, HERNANDO. Youth During the "Frente Nacional" (National Front): Rock and Politics in Colombia in the 60s. Tabula Rasa [online]. 2008, n.9, pp.313-334. ISSN 1794-2489.

This article is aimed at demonstrating that the young people of the 60s in Colombia who dedicated themselves to producing rock music adopted as their ideological orientation the social principles of progress and modernity of the central countries. The cultural models that guided this youth movement originated in the industrialized societies, and therefore Colombian musicians committed themselves to a transforming and revolutionary project that pursued the appropriation of Anglo-American culture and the recognition of the existence of youth in general. In some ways, the circumstances of the Frente Nacional were not against the modernizing project and there was no observed relevant confrontation between the cultural politics of the government and the rock producers. In this history, we can see how cultural principles, national identities, youthful imaginaries and the economical conditions of the protagonists of this narration intertwine.

Palabras clave : rock music; youth cultures; cultural resistance; institutions; modernity.
