This text examines some assumptions of global bioethics proposed by Van R. Potter considering the notions of "biological normativity" and "social normalization" developed by Georges Canguilhem's historical epistemology and Michel Foucault's analysis of disciplinary society. Far from being restricted to the analysis of ethical dilemmas and axiological principles applied to technical-scientific contexts in which the relational character of the subject is split off, global bioethics establishes a relationship with these contexts in the search for establishing a new type of human being and a renewed ontological understanding of the technological constitution of humanity. To achieve its objective, the text is divided into three moments. Initially, some central aspects of Potter's so-called global bioethics are outlined. Subsequently, the concept of biological normativity is analyzed from the perspective of Canguilhem's historical epistemology. Finally, the critical reading of social normalization by Foucault is characterized. The text concludes by pointing out some critical assumptions to which global bioethics could respond in a renewed attempt at re-foundation.
