With the existence of several traditions of Social Pedagogy, it is possible to identify a field of research under development called Comparative Social Pedagogy. This text aims to present a timeline of this scientific discipline in the Spanish contexto. This history compose the research developed in the thesis defended at the University of São Paulo - Brazil under the title The development of Social Pedagogy under the comparative perspective: the current stage in Brazil and Spain. The methodological procedure used in this study was the bibliographical survey and the documentary analysis based on Spanish data. It was possible to identify the historical path of the constitution of a training and professional field of social educators.
