BOTELLO PENALOZA, Héctor Alberto. The effect of quality certification and the internationalization of Colombian industrial companies. suma neg. [online]. 2016, vol.7, n.16, pp.73-81. ISSN 2215-910X. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.sumneg.2016.02.009.
In recent years, there has been a push by Colombian companies to offer their products in international markets in coordination with other Latin American countries. In this sense, this study aims to assess how much this contributes to the internationalization of the companies that have quality certification compared to other companies. The methodology used was a discrete choice model on a sample of 10,960 companies. Estimates show that quality certifications have a significant impact on the internationalization of companies. Quantitatively, the implementation of quality certifications increased the probability that the company internationalized by 20%. There were also changes in specific assets, such as technological capacity and sectorial business characteristics. This shows that the business strategies that generate differentiating competitive advantages are the main contributors to the increased integration of international markets.
