This article synthesizes the evolution of the development economy from the 19th century to nowadays. It describes the structuralist approach and reconstructs the process of economic development in the Municipality of Tausa (Cundinamarca - Colombia) from the pre-Columbian period to the beginning of the 21st century. Based on the historical-structural methods, it analyses the problem of Tausa's economic development under the municipal administrations from 2004 to 2019. Lastly, it makes recommendations regarding the economic development of the Municipality.
