Resumen

VELASCO MARTINEZ, LUIS. Spanish Emigration to Latin America due to the Spanish Civil War and Spanish Fascism: The Case of Argentina. Anu. colomb. hist. soc. cult. [online]. 2011, vol.38, n.2, pp.39-54. ISSN 0120-2456.

The battlefield of the Spanish Civil War extended well beyond the geographical borders of the peninsula. The ideological division brought about by the conflict was evident wherever there were Spaniards, and pressure groups arose in favor of one side or the other. This scenario was common among the communities of Spanish immigrants to Latin America. This article analyzes the case of Argentina by reviewing several of the many associations, publications, groups, and institutions created by the Spanish community in Argentina, and providing an overview of its positions with respect to the parties in conflict. The article 's main objective is to examine the support provided to Spanish fascism by Spaniards residing in Argentina, in order to show how the quantity and the quality of that support have often been underestimated.

Palabras clave : Argentina; fascism; political associations; political publications; Spanish Civil War.
