ZAMBRANO, Daniel-Andrés y GAONA-POVEDA, Juan-Carlos. Presbyterian Intellectual Sociabilities around El Evangelista Colombiano Newspaper, 1912-1945. This article analyzes the intellectual Presbyterian sociability articulated to El Evangelista Colombiano newspaper. The study period starts with the publication in 1912 and ends with the departure of the director Alexander Allan in 1945. In methodological terms, certain material aspects of the publication such as the printing, distribution and exchanges were examined, as well as contents related to the participation in the public life: letters, reports, and articles. Data complemented with Allan's autobiography, a narrative that puts his tenure as the director-editor in context. The works on intellectual sociabilities by Maurice Agulhon, Antonio Gramsci, Aimer Granados, and José Zanca are resumed. It is claimed that the social presence of the intellectual Presbyterians gives account of a space for socio-political action beyond the rule of the Catholic institution, so that its agency in the first half of the twentieth century makes elements of secularity visible within a conservative-confessional political regime; it is also constituted as an indicator of a timid distinction between political and religious power. In the same way, it is considered that the chosen newspaper was a cohesive element of established links by this intellectuality within the churches and with dissident agents to the nation's model.
