Resumen

ARBOLEDA MORA, Carlos  y  CASTRILLON LOPEZ, Luis Alberto. Witness, Memory and Hope. Cuest. teol. [online]. 2013, vol.40, n.94, pp.457-478. ISSN 0120-131X.

On the debate that is beginning over the end of the armed conflict in Colombia, it is important to consider the social reality and the possible configuration of an excess of rationality. Firstly, a return to the life-world is proposed as a first step to understand the chances to end the conflict and a reconstruction of Colombian society in its aftermath. Secondly, an overcoming of the talionic law is proposed. This might lead to a mutual listening of both, victims and victimizers, so we can blur the clear boundary which was fixed by both; it also will lead to establishing the image of the witness, who narrates what was experienced and creates a future full of hope. Finally, from the perspective of memory without forgetting, a healing present and a future full of hope are sketched, so we can prevent a revival of brutality. Thus, a characteristic feature of Christianity is highlighted which might actually heal the community: the practice of forgiveness as a loving gift.

Palabras clave : Conflict aftermath; Memory; Witness; Forgiveness; Hope.
