CARDONA J, Jairo L.; VILLAMIL, María; QUINTEROR, Angela y HENAO, Eucaris. Laughter therapy in a group of older women. Rev. Fac. Nac. Salud Pública [online]. 2013, vol.31, n.2, pp.202-208. ISSN 0120-386X.
OBJECTIVE: to explore the benefits of laughter therapy in a group of elderly women belonging to the gerontology center. METHODOLOGY: a qualitative approach using a semistructured interview to 10 adult women between 59 and 97 years of age, before and after application of 5 sections of laughter therapy, once a week, by the group of "hospital clowns" Mediclaun. RESULTS:many of the changes seen in adult women agree with the literature in relation to a more positive attitude, increased confidence in the persons, and acceptance; expressing the past with less pain and greater liking to family support. DISCUSSION: laughter therapy allows seniors to find the strengths that can help to improve this, in turn, lead to positive changes in the self and its relation to the context.
