Resumen
SPINELLA, Liliana. An Alternative Explanation on Locke's Original Acquisition. Prax. filos. [online]. 2012, n.34, pp.103-118. ISSN 0120-4688.
The traditional view on the origin of private property through labour considers that property is the result of a process whereby the "owned" inexplicably mixes with the "unowned" things. This paper aims at offering intellectual tools to draw up an alternative explanation. Private property would be licit only if it is originated through labour, that is, by means of productive and value-creating activities according to God purposes. The labourer is the object's "maker" from the materials that God provides him, similar to the usufructuary. It is also necessary to satisfy the non-spoilage limitation and that there is enough and as good quality left in common for others.
Palabras clave : usufruct; labour; property; paradox of plenty; man as maker.
