Resumen

MASCARO, Luciano. Ancient and Modern Technology: Heidegger’s Applicability in the Philosophy of Technology. Prax. filos. [online]. 2022, n.54, pp.153-178.  Epub 09-Mar-2022. ISSN 0120-4688.  https://doi.org/10.25100/pfilosofica.v0i54.11940.

This research is divided into three instances: First, I will make an attempt to highlight the imprecision of Heidegger’s distinction between modern and ancient technology. This imprecision is important because, to a large degree, the objective of “The question concerning technology” revolves around such contrast, and, in general, so do the author’s assessments about machination, provocation, enframing, etc. Mi critique will focus on the contrasting of heideggerian assertions with historical and empirical data. On a second instance, I will propose where the true distinction between modern and ancient technology could be found, a distinction that is not made explicit or recognized by Heidegger, but, in my opinion, lays in the foundations of his observations. In a third instance, I will briefly try to specify the value of the employment of concrete case analysis within the argumentations of the heideggerian system.

Palabras clave : Technology; Examples; Applicability; Philosophy of Technology; Heideggerian Thought.
