Resumen

RAMIREZ, Robinson. Quality of life as a measure correlated to health outcomes: systematic revision of literature. Rev. Col. Cardiol. [online]. 2007, vol.14, n.4, pp.207-222. ISSN 0120-5633.

Background: the term quality of life correlated to health came up as a concept that refers to the assessment made by the individual with respect to his health perception, gathering both objective and subjective aspects. Despite the lack of consensus in its definition, several different measurement tools for quality of life have been developed in different pathologies, among them chronic diseases, making decisive the evaluation of new therapeutic options with relation to the added value that these bring to the patient (not only in effectiveness and safety). Objective: literature analysis about scientific background of the tools used to evaluate quality of life correlated with health, its validity and results on health. Design: a systematic review using electronic databases LILACS (Latin-American and Caribbean Centre of Information in Health Sciences) and Medline in the last 15 years. Results: the available investigation evidences 67 studies that use different tools and methodological considerations for evaluating quality of life correlated with health. Conclusions: different studies show multiple dimensions about the way in which the patient perceives and experiences these daily manifestations and the way in which they affect him in the development of his regular life.

Palabras clave : quality of life with relation to health; validity; measurements; concepts; disease; health.
