The Colombian Review of Gastroenterology has taken a step towards promotion of free research through its subscription to the Open Journal System of the Public Knowledge project. The commitment of the Review of Gastroenterology is manifested by:

- Free availability of certain content on the internet. This allows anyone to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to complete texts without economic, legal or technical barriers.

- Consolidation of Colombian Research due to increased visibility and impact of publications.

This system offers significant advantages for our editorial process. Among them are an independent web platform, control of submissions (manuscripts) to the Review from authors, notices, automatic messages, and a multilingual magazine. Provision of version control offers greater transparency to the editorial process. In general, the system provides greater ease and speed of editorial management with consequent savings of resources. In addition, it allows integration with other systems including Google, DOAJ, and PubMEd.

In this regard, the Review has signed an agreement with CrossRef for activation of Digital Identification Objects (DOI) which will guarantee stability of the Review’s publications over time. This will ensure an efficient reference system and, above all, continuous and direct access to the articles.
