Resumen

LEON PAIME, Edison Fredy. Teacher distress: are view of investigation into teacher malaise and violence in Latin-America. Innovar [online]. 2009, vol.19, suppl.1, pp.91-110. ISSN 0121-5051.

Articles were reviewed which dealt with the problem of malaise and violence associated with teachers in Latin-America, leading to consolidating the concept of teacher distress, which (in our opinion) is dealt with more effectively within the framework of analysing and characterising the processes in which our teachers are intrinsically involved. The object was to observe how such situations arise and the novel elements which investigators from the region could be highlighting, bearing in mind that a contextual analysis could denote elements and factors which are not recognised in the dominant literature. The document concludes that some socio-political and methodological elements could be contributing towards a re-interpretation of our teacher's distress/anxiety. Experience from different settings is then compared, leading to identifying innovation and resourcefulness in research and intervention regarding this phenomenon.

Palabras clave : teacher malaise; burnout; school violence; school; Latin-American society; school conflict management.
