Resumen

SUAREZ, Andrés Fernando. Memories in Context. Beyond the Literality of Words. Estud. Polit. [online]. 2021, n.60, pp.27-46.  Epub 01-Jul-2021. ISSN 0121-5167.  https://doi.org/10.17533/udea.espo.n60a02.

Memory can be a source to clarify the historical context, but also that context can contribute to the understanding of memory, so its meanings, claims, and silences can only be understood if the conditions under which one tries to remember are taken into account. Based on the conceptual and methodological proposal of Alessandro Portelli, this work describes the most recurring emphases and silences in the memory of the victims of the armed conflict after a decade of implementation of the institutional framework of transitional justice in Colombia and proposes interpretive tools based on a reading of the context in order to understand them beyond their narrative literality. The emphases and silences in the memories of the victims are deeply intertwined with their experiences, with the harsh reality of violence that is installed in the daily lives of the victims as the only reference to survive and to stand against the incomprehensible and unimaginable.
