Foreign relations play a fundamental role in the development of the economy of the countries. The objective of this study was to apply the Elcano index of strategic opportunities and risks for the Spanish economy in the Colombian context. This index is presented as a radar of the strategic opportunities and risks that an economy faces in terms of its internationalization process. For this study, the same model used in the analysis of Spanish was adapted to identify the interdependence of Colombia. It was concluded that, in the international trade and investment relations, Colombia has not had great changes in the last twelve years, considering the countries analyzed, except for Ecuador and Venezuela.
