Resumen

MORA NAWRATH, Héctor. The Space of Production in Anthropological Sciences in Chile: A closer look at the Publications contained within Scientific Journals (1860-1954). Antipod. Rev. Antropol. Arqueol. [online]. 2017, n.27, pp.93-115. ISSN 1900-5407.  https://doi.org/10.7440/antipoda27.2017.04.

This article analyses anthropological sciences publications from specialized journals on a prior stage of academic institutionalization of Anthropology in Chile. This period of time gave birth to a field conformed by an array of research areas (ethnological, ethnographic, archaeological, prehistoric, folkloric, linguistic and physical or biological). Moreover, it developed in conditions of relative stability within museums and scientific societies, both situated in natural sciences but less so, in human and anthropological sciences. In this context, publications made in specialized journals of circulation in Chile are analyzed based on the relationship between different variables such as, thematic areas, temporal stages of production, training and origin of the researchers, journals and authors. This relational space -built upon multiple correspondence techniques- along with background facts recovered through the work in archives, allow us to articulate a reflection of its structure. Hence, this article highlights areas of specialization that are associated with the individuals' backgrounds, as much as, with the research theme. Therefore, it distinguishes a humanist, archaeological and physical or biological area along with certain interdisciplinary vocation and hybridization of the discipline. This has also characterized anthropologies to an international scale.
