This paper is a case study of the multiple meanings which archaeological materials acquire at the present time. We combine both an archaeological and anthropological approach to investigate the relationships that people establish with archaeological materials, and to discuss whether they allow for/prevent reflections on their past and present. On that basis, we reflect on the appropriation of archaeological knowledge and its link with local history.
