RUA PENAGOS, Jonathan Andrés. Anthropological and epistemological assumptions for a theology of sport. Cuest. teol. [online]. 2012, vol.39, n.91, pp.139-158. ISSN 0120-131X.
This article aims to show the epistemological and anthropological elements upholding a theology of sport. As a first step, taking as a basis the idea of correlation from the hermeneutical method, we define the theology of sport as a reflection done a posteriori on the transcendental experience of the human being, driving toward the Holy Mystery; it is an experience that has been already surrounded by an historic and sporting context. This contextual theology is pluralistic, ecumenical, interdisciplinary, critic, liberating, transforming, realistic and clear. Later on, the document proposes an integral vision of the human being based on the unity of all these: spiritual, social, dynamic, biological and psychological characteristics of man. Finally, we do know that the human experience is the foundation to build knowledge and that the historicity of science, shown by scientific paradigms, justifies a theological discourse on theology of sport in our XXI century.
