RESTREPO, Eduardo. Who imagines the independency? About the Colombia’s bicentennial independence celebration. Nómadas [online]. 2010, n.33, pp.69-77. ISSN 0121-7550.

This article questions about three aspects related to the policies of ignoring and silencing present in the celebrating rhetoric and agendas of Colombia’s Bicentennial of independence. The first aspect highlights that coloniality did not end in the 19 th century but it strongly remains nowadays. The second affirms that it is indispensable de-elitizing the genealogies of the Colombianity, including what is appearing as Independence. Finally, it is clear that rather than responding to what is supposedly celebrated, this kind of events meet the concerns and historicity of those who celebrate.

Palavras-chave : policies of representation; colombianity; bicentennial; coloniality; independence.
