This article tackles Elkin Pérez Álvarez’ life and work as reflect of the Colombian Andean music transformation process during the last 30 years of the 20 th century. Analyzing his work as musicians teacher, contests judge and researcher, this study concludes that his ludic didactic made possible the formation of many musicians in Medellín who are important in today’s Colombian Andean music environment.
