The present article aims to demonstrate the dynamism of the Risaralda political system from the identification of administrative and political tensions among various institutional actors, political parties and their factions in the first 20 years of institutional life of the department. Based on a critical historical method, the document review of regional and local state archives, from the written press, as well as of semi-structured interviews with political actors of that time, it is perceived the rationalization of the clientelist and electoral dynamics during the development of the National Front. Thus, with the dismantling of this political pact, a more rational and systematic political conflict between the different dominant factions appeared through alliances, conflicts, and / or tensions that generated a institutional stability characterized by Bipartisan electoral mastery, excluding any other political option in the department.
