This article analyses the efficiency of conciliation in consumer law. It will focus on general consumer relations, that is, those regulated by Law 1480 of 2011 that do not have special legislation. The regulations governing it, their characteristics, related jurisprudence, and quantitative data collected through rights of petition were analyzed. Topics of economic analysis of law will be introduced to enrich the research. The text concludes that through conciliation, optimal solutions can be obtained, costs to the parties can be avoided, and the relationship between the consumer and the producer can be improved.
